Festivals and Fairs of Bengal
West Bengal — a land of festivals, a land of spirit and enthusiasm. There is a popular saying in Bengali ‘‘Baro Mase Tero Parban’, which literally means thirteen festivals in twelve months. Almost all festivals of bengal are celebrated here with equal sentiment and fervor. These festivals are the ways to showcase the tradition and rich culture of the people. A great number of fairs are also organized.The most popular festival celebrated in West Bengal is Durga Puja. All the people come out in the streets and celebrate this almost week long festival. Other festivals celebrated in West Bengal are Kaali Puja, Basant Panchami, Dusshera, Bhai Phonta, Holi, Mahavir Jayanti, Buddha Jayanti, Rath Yatra, Eid and Christmas.
